Hello, lovelies!🌾 Happy Sunday ~ I found this book tag a few weeks ago and I had to do it because I was a fan of Selena Gomez as a young child and I still listen to her old songs (づ｡◕‿‿◕｡)づ
Love You Like A Love Song: A romance novel that is cliché but you still love it
I, I love you like a love song, baby 🎵
And I keep hitting repeat-peat-peat-peat-peat-peat (oh)
I think for this one Red, White and Royal Blue by Cassey McQuiston is a strong contender for cliché – enemies to lovers, prince/regular guy, yet is still romantic and so damn sexy that I read it in one sitting until 3am – no regrets.
Rare: A book with a female protagonist unlike any other
I don’t think there is one single character which is particularly “unlike” any other. Most of the time, if not all, we like and look for the same characteristics in book characters. But, if I have to name one I will pick Elizabeth Bennet from Pride and Prejudice, because she was ahead of her time. Smart, well-liked, not afraid to speak her mind, witty and loved her family and siblings – yes, something we can find in many female characters but then again tell me one you think is completely unlike any other! 🤔
Look At Her Now: A character who suffered a lot (physically/mentally) but eventually recovered and is now at the better end of life
Naomi from The Obsession by Nora Roberts. This is one of my favorite books, she discovers her father is a serial killer, rescues one of his victims, watches her life break down, watched her mother being manipulated by her father to the point she commits suicide, and tries not to connect with people and fall in love, always afraid of her past. She becomes a great photographer, buys an old house and moves on – she also falls in love and learns to trust others. I’m all for her relationship with Xander!
Wolves: A book that got you out of a reading slump
I have a LIST of books that will ALWAYS get me out of a book slump: the Black Dagger Brotherhood by J.R. Ward is a series that doesn’t disappoint. I always re-read the first 5 books non-stop whenever I’m in a slump, and every time I fall a bit more in love.
It Ain’t Me: A character you used to like but not anymore
I don’t have one per se, so I will choose one I like a bit less that the first time. For this one I pick Selena from Fantasy Lover by Sherrilyn Kenyon. Don’t get me wrong, she’s an excellent friend, sister and wife – she’s fun and quirky, not afraid of speaking her mind but after re-reading Fantasy Lover as an adult, I found her to be callous and insensitive, doesn’t take into consideration Julian’s feelings often treating him in a very sexual/crude way. I do enjoy her character in the other books but I have a hard time liking her in Fantasy Lover compared to the first time I read this book.
Feel Me: A character you can’t bear to see with anyone else but you
… okay skipping this one. I’ve never seen myself with characters, I may like the way they are and may even wish to meet someone with similar views/characteristics/personality even looks but that’s all. I DO however, scream when a main character is with anyone other than the MC like for example Elizabeth and her fascination with Wickham, I was screaming during those scenes.
Same Old Love: A book with an unoriginal and unrealistic romance
That would be Companion Required by Brian Lancaster which has a ‘hired boyfriend’ who happens to be straight pretending to be gay. Very unrealistic and unoriginal but I really liked this book, the slow burn and awakening was sweet, plus the relationship was healthy, not rushed and very low angst which yay!
The Heart Wants What It Wants: A book you regret finishing because you miss reading it a lot
One of my last reads: Feral by Alessandra Hazard. It was very cute, extremely sexy and I loved every single second! Will re-read probably before the end of the month ><
Back To You: A book you read again and again even though you have other books on your TBR pile
I have a lot of those, but Just a bit Ruthless by Alessandra Hazard is one of my most re-reads. There is something about this book that I just love, I think is because of the chemistry between the main characters >< how sweet Luke is and how dominant and arrogant I find Roman – yet he’s perfect for Luke!
Hit the Lights: A book that just made you forget everything else
Oh, I have so many of those but Mine Till Midnight by Lisa Kleypas is the type of book that makes me so happy and giddy. the rest of the world is nothing when I’m reading this book.
Tell Me Something I Don’t Know: A book people keep recommending you which you already have it in your TBR pile
Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor which I’m looking forward to reading this year.
I Can’t Get Enough: A book series/world you just want more and more of
Right now I’m dying for two series “The Wrong Alpha” book 3 is coming out in December 2021 – and I’m literally dying – and book 5 from the series “Calluvia’s Royalty” this 2021 both by Alessandra Hazard. I would love to get my hands on those ARCs and I never say that! (づ￣ ³￣)づ
I had such a good time doing this tag ~ I'm off to listen to Naturally, A Year Without Rain, Hit the Lights, Round & Round - the songs on repeat bc of Disney and Selena & The Scene ❤
